We’re feeling festive! Let’s talk about where you can celebrate the 4th of July in Austin.
As the United States commemorates 246 years as a nation this Fourth of July, Austinites have many opportunities to gather with fellow Texans at events in and around the city. From enjoying classic barbecue to watching fireworks on Town Lake or taking in a patriotic parade, below are Austin’s best celebrations being held in honor of Independence Day.
Fifty years later, Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic and Fireworks continues its run, but this time at Austin FC’s Q2 Stadium. Starting at noon, family and friends can gather to see Willie Nelson & Family, Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit, Tyler Childers, Brothers Osborne, Midland, Charley Crockett, Allison Russell, Particle Kid, Steve Earle & the Dukes and Asleep at the Wheel. Doors open at 11 a.m. and attendees can buy tickets on the Austin FC website.
H-E-B Austin Symphony’s July 4th Concert
The H-E-B Austin Symphony’s July 4th Concert and Fireworks celebration is back. This year, Vic Mathias Shores — formerly known as Auditorium Shores — will light up the sky with fireworks over the Austin skyline. Planned, produced and performed by the Austin Symphony, the event will feature a concert at 8:30 p.m. and “mile-high” fireworks that are free and open to the public. The celebration kicks off at 8 p.m.
Lutie’s Independence Day Garden BBQ with Leroy & Lewis
The Commodore Perry Estate’s Lutie’s Garden Restaurant is teaming up with barbecue pitmasters LeRoy & Lewis on Sunday, July 3. Guests are invited to enjoy the pitmasters’ famous smoked meats, brews and giant lawn games at the gardens. Following food and games, Lutie’s will transform into an after-hours cocktail party at 9 p.m. Tickets can be bought online and will include food and two drink tickets and access to Fourth of July activities during the celebration.
Gear up for the holiday by celebrating with the Hill Country Galleria at their annual Independence Day Festival. Starting at 4 p.m., Austinites and visitors can visit the Hill Country for free, with access to live music performances, art vendors, water games, fair rides, face painting for kids — and maybe even adults — plus a firework show. The celebration’s live music will feature performances from Two Tons of Steel, Southern Angels, Rock Bottom String Band, Robin Mordecai and The Saddle Sores.
Fireworks at Town Lake
Starting at 8:30 p.m. on the 4th, Austinites are welcome to gather under the fireworks and stars at Town Lake on paddleboard, kayak or canoe. Attendees can experience the Congress Avenue Bat Bridge and the melodies of the Austin Symphony from afar, all while experiencing a fireworks display. Participants are required to bring a photo I.D. and matching credit card and must fill out a waiver at the rowing dock.
In the heart of Round Rock, catch the patriotic spirit at the annual Sertoma Independence Day Parade, starting at 8:30 a.m on July 4. Back and better than ever, the parade will feature giant helium and cold-air inflatables. The 1.5-mile parade route will run along Mays Street between Mays Crossing and Highway 79. Following the parade, the city of Round Rock will continue to celebrate with a Fourth of July festival, carnival, music and traditional fireworks.
Buda residents are invited to join in on a bike parade down Main Street and evening fireworks at the Buda Amphitheater. Following a 9 a.m. bike parade on July 4, attendees can catch a fireworks celebration at dusk, along with live performance by Shinyribs and Jack Ingram at the Buda Amphitheater, all free and open to the public. To beat the Texas heat, a splash pad will be open, as well as appearances from food vendors and a craft market.
Get away with the family this Independence Day at the serene Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa. Located along the Colorado River, the destination will be hosting a Fourth of July Fireworks Extravaganza for guests over the holiday weekend. Activities include arts and crafts and movies on the lawn, followed by a fireworks show at 9 p.m. on July 4. During the show, guests can enjoy complimentary firecracker popcorn and can purchase ice-cream sandwiches and more.
