Exploring Texas in 2025: A Year of New Beginnings

whats new at a texas guide

As 2025 begins, we’re thrilled to extend our warmest wishes to all our readers, subscribers, and fellow adventurers. May this year bring you joy, inspiration, and plenty of opportunities to explore the treasures of the Lone Star State. Whether you’re a proud Texan or simply Texas-curious, A Texas Guide is here to help you uncover the magic, history, and culture of this extraordinary state.

At A Texas Guide, our mission is simple: to be your ultimate resource for all things Texas. From exploring the natural wonders of the Hill Country to diving into the cultural riches of Houston, Dallas, and beyond, we’re passionate about sharing the best experiences Texas has to offer. We provide insightful, fun, and informative articles to inspire your next adventure, whether that’s a road trip through Big Bend, a visit to Galveston’s beaches, or even an afternoon spent marveling at butterfly exhibits.

Galveston’s beaches, texas

Over the years, we’ve covered a variety of topics that reflect the diverse and dynamic nature of Texas. One of our most unique interviews explored butterfly exhibits but we’ve covered smaller local exhibits scattered throughout the state, these tranquil spaces offer a chance to witness Texas’s natural beauty up close.

We’ve also delved into exciting Q&As with experts on Texas’s most dramatic natural phenomena, including hurricanes. If you’ve ever wondered about the science behind these powerful storms or how Texans have learned to live with them, our interview with a local hurricane expert broke it all down.

For those with a love for coastal adventures, we’ve shared guides to cruises departing from Galveston. This Gulf Coast city has become a top departure point for travelers seeking sunny escapes, and we’ve provided helpful resources on everything from booking your dream cruise to enjoying a few extra days in Galveston before or after you set sail. With its historic Strand District, sandy beaches, and vibrant seafood scene, Galveston is more than just a launchpad—it’s a destination in its own right.

Our spotlight this month on A Texas Guide

As we step into 2025, we’re excited to announce some of the new features coming your way. We’re diving into the culinary heart of Texas with a spotlight on Lockhart, the Barbecue Capital of the World. This charming town is a mecca for BBQ lovers, and we’ll be exploring its legendary smokehouses like Kreuz Market, Black’s Barbecue, and Smitty’s Market. But we’re also showcasing the other side of Lockhart—its quaint small-town charm, cultural landmarks, and the local gems you’ll want to explore when you’re not savoring brisket and sausage.

In this edition, we’re also excited to feature a talented songwriter, singer, and guitarist based in Austin Texas, Johnny McGowan. Originally from the Smoky Mountains of Knoxville, Tennessee, Johnny has made a significant impact on the Austin music scene with his unique blend of classic country and honky-tonk rhythms.

His latest release, “Hill Country Waltz,” captures the essence of Texas’s open, free, and lonesome landscapes. The album showcases his skills as an accomplished musician, heartfelt singer, and lyrics prowess with each track adding to the tapestry of Texas’s rich musical heritage.

As we embark on this new year, we want to thank you for being part of our community. Your support inspires us to keep exploring, writing, and sharing the stories that make Texas so special. Here’s to another year of discoveries, road trips, and unforgettable moments in the Lone Star State.

From all of us at A Texas Guide, Happy New Year! Let’s make 2025 a year of adventure and inspiration!
