Elemendorf Lake Recreation in West San Antonio

Our Woman of the Lake University upon San Antonio’s West Aspect is one of the most beautiful campuses better education in the city of San Antonio and in the entire country, honestly. Its Victorian Gothic, castle-like structures are works of art.

That said, I was at all times disappointed that the lake around Our Woman of the Lake was meh. No more!

Elemendorf Lake Recreation area finally really does OLLU justice.

Founded in 1895 by Sisters associated with Divine Providence , Our own Lady of the Lake is a beacon of hope plus progress over the past 126 many years, and the $16. 2-million park improvement task underwritten by City of San Antonio and Bexar County and managed with the San Antonio River Authority offers yet another jewel in San Antonio’s crown.

The 30-acre park provides two miles of strolling trails, educational plaques, indigenous plants, ecosystem restoration, have a picnic tables, a fishing boat dock, a playground, a dash pad and a swimming pool. The particular glorious swan floating previous was an added bonus.

My husband and I were furthermore wowed by the Gaudí-like benches of local artist Oscar Alvarado , the same artist who produced the PanterAzul (Blue Panther) mosaic sculpture at Yanaguana Garden in Hemisfair. Dionicio Rodriguez ‘s faux bois artwork also appears in the recreation area. Is San Antonio great or even what?!

Elmendorf Lake Park is area of the Howard Watts. Peak Greenway Trails Program , an 82-mile system of developed paths that create the green necklace of walk and bike trails that will circle San Antonio.

I must give nearby photographer, Philip B. Nyren , credit score for putting Elmendorf River on my radar. Their breathtaking photos of the animals at the lake put it on our to-do list. Thanks, Philip!

The recreation area is open from dawn to sunset, and car parking is free. The recreation area is also accessible by VIA Metropolitan Transportation .
